COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
LCVEF partners with many community organizations to match the needs of the school system with funding. Over the years, this has helped Lancaster County Public Schools launch a number of initiatives.
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CENTER PLAYGROUND
The Early Childhood Education Center opened in 2022 to serve students in Pre-K. LCVEF partnered with River Counties Community Foundation to provide an age appropriate and engaging playground structure at the facility.

EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMY
The Early College Academy provides students at LHS the opportunity to earn college credits for courses taken through RCC while still in high school at no cost. Students can earn up to an associate degree while still in high school, saving potentially two years of college tuition expenses. LCVEF thanks community partners the Verlander Trust, Cole Trust, Conley Foundation, Wiley Foundation, and Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church for their support of this initiative.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE
The Family Engagement Initiative provides support to parents and guardians so that they can play a more active role in their child's education. Monthly events for students in K-3 and their families focus on literacy and STEM activities. Parents and guardians receive training and resources to continue learning support at home. This program is made possible by the Wiley Foundation.

ROBOTICS PROGRAM
The LHS robotics team “Kinetic Storm” has participated in FIRST Tech Challenge competitions to build problem-solving, STEM, and teamwork skills. Kinetic Storm is challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots at tournaments in VHSL’s Eastern Virginia District. Students also have the opportunity to attend NASA's Wallops Island Space & Robotics Camp. The Robotics Program is supported by Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Robert B. Lantz Foundation, Duffer Trust, and the Conley Foundation.

MENTORING PROGRAM
Volunteer mentors trained via the Virginia Mentor Program work with students facing academic and daily life challenges. The goals of the program are to improve academic success, increase attendance, reduce behavioral issues/referrals, and increase participation in LHS activities (clubs, sports, band). The program is led by Patricia Means with funding from the River Counties Community Foundation.

SCHOLARSHIPS
LCVEF partners with the Verlander Trust to award $1,000 scholarships to Lancaster High School students for post-secondary education. This can include 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges, and trade or apprentice programs.

MUSIC APPRECIATION CLASS
Lancaster High School launched Music Appreciation, a new elective open to 8th grade students and taught by LES band director Noah Sharp. The goal of this course is to introduce students to various instruments and styles of music to foster an appreciation for different forms of music. Instruments for the course were purchased with support from Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church.
